Prof José Martines MD MSc PhD - Chairman
After some years as a lecturer in medicine (paediatrics) in Brazil José joined the World Health Organisation some twenty years ago where he is now a senior official in the department which deals with pregnancy, infancy and adolescence. His work takes him all round the world and he is thus able to visit some of our overseas projects.
John Barden FISM, MInst.AM, MRAI, LLB(Hons), MA, MSc.
Served in the armed services for 30 years in all theatres. Upon retirement John worked for Bristol University as a computer systems manager and also in their archeological department, specializing on the Roman period and taking educational and archeological tour groups to Rome. John continues to operate as a freelance archaelogist both in the UK and abroad, something which also further his perspective in terms of adverse social and political conditions that stiull exist in some areas of the world.
Elizabeth Canning
Liz is a Director in one of the largest global financial institutions and was previously a compliance officer at BNP Paribas. She is also a Trustee of a charity supporting one of the historic churches in the City of London.
Maurizio Fantato MPRCA MCIM FRSA FRGS
A Senior Marketing professional working for an international PR practice. Maurizio is widely travelled having lived in South America and other European countries and he is also the Vice-Chairman of a charity concerned with European Education in England. He was Hon.Secretary and Treasurer of the Foundation from 1998 to 2009.
Linda Helm - Hon. Treasurer
Linda worked for the Diplomatic Service and as a Press Officer at New Scotland Yard subsequently running her own business for 15 years. Following that Linda volunteered full time for the Catholic Church, including work for the homeless. She has been a Trustee of the MOC for several years and is currently the Hon Treasurer.
Douglas Graham Newton KHS
Douglas is a retired Royal Marine Commando with an outstanding record of service spanning 30 years in numerous missions across the world and for which he was also awarded a number of medals. Following his retirement from the armed services he worked as a security advisor for an international organisation. He has been a Trustee of the Torbay YMCA and is currently an advisor to a charity working on poverty relief in Ethiopia. Douglas is a Freeman of the City of London and is the holder of two papal honours. He is married and has two sons and five grandchildren.
Mike Overton
Mike is a retired technologist and manager from the baking industry who worked successfully in research, large factories and small businesses across Britain. For many years he was a Trustee/Board member/Chairman of a charity looking after homeless people in Bath, and with lesser roles in other charities. Mike's right leg was amputated when he was a young child so he useless at sports! Married to Angela for more than 40 years, with married children and grandchildre, now enjoying a quiet life in the Cotswolds.
David Palmer
David served 30 years with the Metropolitan Police including diplomatic protection at Downing Street. He moved on to Parliament where he was responsible for Quality Assurance, Management Information and Anti-Terrorist Contingency Planning. Following his retirement he now runs his own business in legal support services investigating accidents, preparing statements and reports for Insurance Companies. He also acts as a tour manager for a travel company. David is married to Elaine and has two children, Ian and Claire.
Gavin Ridding BSc C.Eng MICE
Gavin is a chartered civil engineer with design and construction experience of in the UK and the Middle East. In later years he has specialised in urban regeneration as senior project manager for the London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC). He has held directorships of a consulting engineers practice and a regeneration company. He now runs his own consultancy practice and he advises East London businesses on planning issues. He is married with two grown up children.
Stephen Screech KSG
Stephen spent many years in a variety of departments of the Bank of England before entering the private sector twenty years ago in which he acts as a professional trustee. He currently resides in Switzerland and has been knighted by the Pope in recognition for his extensive charitable activities. He is a passionate researcher on Aragonian medioeval history, with an unparalleled grasp of genealogical and heraldic matters.
